Traceroute IP Address
Tracert, also known as traceroute, is a network diagnostic tool used to track the path of data packets from one network to another. It is a useful tool for troubleshooting network issues and identifying network latency.
To tracert an IP address, follow these steps:
- Open the command prompt on your computer.
- Type "tracert" followed by the IP address you want to trace.
- Press enter.
Tracert will then begin sending packets to the target IP address and display the results in the command prompt window.
- The first IP address in the list is usually your local router.
- The last IP address in the list is the target IP address.
- The time it takes for each packet to reach its destination is measured in milliseconds (ms).
- If a packet takes a long time to reach its destination, it could indicate network latency or congestion.
Example: Tracerouting Google.
